Bone Man at Teatre Metamorfosis is what happens when a skeleton in a unitard teaches a room full of adults how to feel again. As part of the Barcelona Fringe, Andy Casper, comedian, actor, and beloved clowning teacher behind the Clown 101 workshop, steps onto the stage with very few words and somehow fills the space with warmth, mischief, and surprising emotional clarity.
Casper’s alter ego, the Bone Man, already has a history. After playing to strong, enthusiastic crowds at the Edinburgh Fringe with Bone Man Rides Again, the character arrives in Barcelona shaped by that lineage of absurd, tender, and quietly clever clowning. At Teatre Metamorfosis, the room is buzzing and almost full, and the moment he appears, masked, skeletal and radiating shy British awkwardness, the atmosphere softens instantly.

The core of the show lies in Bone Man’s relationship with the crowd. He speaks in murmurs, gestures with a bony hand pulled from his bag, and performs tiny, earnest attempts at entertainment with a banana, improvised songs, and lopsided dances. His entire presence says: I will try anything to make you smile. That humility becomes the engine of the performance.
Andy skilfully folds the audience into the action. Volunteers join him onstage to sing, sway, and create nonsensical choreography that feels both spontaneous and oddly beautiful. Nothing is scripted; everything is guided by rhythm, instinct and the electricity of the moment. Even the silences feel intentional, the kind of pauses only a trained clown can hold without tipping into awkwardness.
What makes Bone Man special is the emotional reversal at its core. A skeletal creature should inspire fear or discomfort, yet Casper transforms him into something tender, lovable, and deeply human. It becomes a quiet thesis on clowning: attitude matters more than aesthetics. Connection beats costume. And vulnerability can make even a skeleton feel alive.
Andy’s work is undeniably charming, a reminder that joy doesn’t need punchlines or monologues, only presence and sincerity. Bone Man is a gentle riot, a triumph of physical comedy, and a testament to Casper’s growing reputation in the European clowning and comedy scene.
A must-see for anyone who loves comedy with heart, chao,s and a touch of the surreal.
